2024 Reunion Details Announced
It’s official! Scudders will gather October 18-20 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, for the 2024 Scudder Association Reunion and Annual Meeting.
We’ll headquarter at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Newtown, PA, a short jumping off point from the New Jersey sites which have so much Scudder history. The hotel is giving us a special rate of $185 a night and has set up a special code ‘SCUDDER GROUP’. Call (888) 755-9880 to make a reservation.
Scudders have a long history in the Trenton, New Jersey, area since settling there in the 18th century to take advantage of its great farmland. For example, during the American Revolution Amos Scudder’s family sheltered and fed Washington’s troops after they crossed the freezing Delaware River from Pennsylvania, and he helped guide them to Trenton where they surprised and defeated Britain’s mercenary Hessian troops in December 1776. It was a turning point in the war that gave new life to the nearly defeated revolutionary movement. We’ll be visiting the site of his crossing with 2,400 troops and the scene of his attack on the startled Hessians.
The reunion is going to be packed with fun activities for the whole family including a Meet and Greet party on Friday evening, October 18th, and a bus tour to Washington Crossing National Historic Park and the Olde Barracks Museum in Trenton on Saturday. The annual meeting of the membership will be held Saturday afternoon followed by the reunion dinner in the evening. An informal breakfast gathering Sunday morning will cap off the weekend.
