We Provide Educational Grants
Isabelle Scudder, the daughter of Ezekiel, was born in Arni. She and her husband, Ernest, devoted educators, founded Chevy Chase Junior College in Chevy Chase, MD. They left the college plus the large bequest to the Scudder Association that formed the basis of the Foundation’s endowment.
Since the 1940s the Scudder Association has awarded scholarships in the fields of medicine, education, social welfare, science, humanitarian studies and theology. Today these Scudder Scholarships are awarded to institutions of higher learning in the U.S. and India to be awarded to students of their choice.
In 2023 the Foundation awarded $34,000 in educational grants. In addition, a SAF director has helped fund the medical education of a future Indian doctor who will serve at Scudder Memorial Hospital.
